The Poolhouse Spa at The Inn at Ocean's Edge is a limited-service spa featuring massage rooms, a cedar sauna, shower, hot tub, and, of course, our heated outdoor infinity edge pool. We offer two massage treatment rooms as well as the possibility of in-room massage and couples' massage. Wind down at the end of your day with a relaxing trip to our sauna. All treatments are $95 for a 50 minute minimum. $20 for each additional 15 minutes.

Thai Massage is in-room, 80 minute minimum, $150
Swedish Massage: Provides deep relaxation for the body and mind while relieving stress and muscular tension using long gliding strokes and kneading of the muscles. You may prefer gentle light strokes or more firm pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage: This massage is slow, deep, body work that moves the deeper layers of muscle and fascia (connective tissue) and may target trigger points to release muscle tension, release adhesions and gain movement with less pain.
Thai Yoga Massage: Originates from the Buddhist monasteries of Thailand. The routine is a fusion of gentle yoga stretches of India and pressure points along the energy channels of the body reminiscent of Chinese influence. You have has the option of wearing loose clothing.
Shiatsu: Japanese form of bodywork used to balance energy flow by applying pressure to body meridians to relieve blocked energy for stress reduction. A Shiatsu session is traditionally given on a mat, but will be given on the table. You have the option of wearing loose clothing for the shiatsu treatment.
• Scheduling Appointments — We recommend that you schedule massage treatment prior to arrival in order to better secure your preferred time and the treatment of your choice. Reservations are subject to availability and must be guaranteed with a credit card. Please be aware of our Cancellation Policy, below, which is 24 hours.
• Medical Concerns — We always recommend that you consult your physician if you have questions regarding massage and treatment considerations. Please inform us of any medical or special needs such as high blood pressure, allergies, pregnancy or any other special circumstances that may require our attention.
• Arriving for Your Service — Please bring with you the Clinet History Form, which requires your signature before treatment and is available at the Front Desk. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your service to ensure that we start on time. Late arrival will, unfortunately, preclude receiving the full time for your treatment.
• Cancellation Policy — Please call 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel your appointment, otherwise you will be charged for the service. Appointments missed without the 24-hour cancellation notice will result in a 100% charge for reserved services.
• Gratuity — a typical gratuity of $10-20 is appreciated, but not required.
• What to bring — Bring your bathing suit to relax in the heated outdoor infinity edge pool. Complimentary use of our robes is provided during massage treatments. Towels, too, are available in the Poolhouse. Please do not bring jewelry or other valuables to the treatment. Inquire with the Front Desk if you require a safe. The Poolhouse, like all of our accommodations and dining areas, is a smoke-free environment.
• What to wear during a spa treatment — Our staff is professionally trained in proper draping designed to ensure modesty and comfort throughout the service. However, if you are more comfortable, you may wear undergarments for your treatment. Guests have the option of being fully clothed to receive shiatsu, thai body work, or sports massage.
• If you are pregnant — We always recommend that you consult your physician if you have questions regarding massage treatment considerations. Please avoid treatments using heat, warm stones, deep pressure and aromatherapy. Also, avoid the sauna. Some treatments are not recommended in the first trimester. Please inform us when scheduling your appointment so we may select the appropriate treatment for you.
For 6 years, we have been working with a dedicated group of massage therapists lead by Johanna Stinson, RN and LMT. Through their combined knowledge and experience, we are able to offer a wide variety of treatments, listed above.
Johanna combines her medical knowledge, massage training and sensitivity to provide you with a therapeutic massage,
promoting your health and well - being. Johanna Stinson has earned specialized certification in relaxation, body/mind, deep tissue, myofascial, and advanced orthopedic pain management techniques. She is listed as a “preferred orthopedic therapist “ and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Johanna has a private practice in Camden, Maine. She is passionate about her work and is greatly appreciative of her mentors.

Jenni Lyn, Nationally Certified for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, has been a resident of mid-coast Maine for over 27 years. For the last four years she has been working winters in the US Virgin Islands, returning home for spring summer and fall. She attended the Downeast School of Massage, one of the oldest massage schools in the United States, where she focused on Swedish and Shiatsu massage. Since then, she has studied many other massage modalities and has traveled extensively in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos, studying Asian bodywork. She loves to combine techniques in sessions. She often guides clients with breath work during sessions to help relieve tension. Sessions are tailored to each individual.
Antje Roitzsch brings to Massage or Shiatsu, her ability as a sculptor to perceive everything 3-dimensionally. Just as a sculpture, she lets the body organically
unfold under her touch. Using "listening hands" she invites the recipient to peel away the layers of old habits, defense, protective armor, compensation patterns and uncover the treasure of love and appreciation for one's own body.
In 1988 she came to Maine to learn a special goldsmith technique and fell in love with the area. For 14 more years she designed and produced jewelry in the same setting.
To expand her horizons and use her hands in a different way, she studied 1999, and practiced since 2001, Massage and Shiatsu. In 2005 she studied more Shiatsu at the Ohashi Institute in NYC. During 2010 she studied Phenomenal Touch ™, expanding her vocabulary of massage and rekindled her passion.

Betsy Fairfield graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in Waldoboro, Maine where she studied the Swedish and Body/Mind Massage programs. She has completed classes in Biotone Spa (hydrotherapy) with Steve Capellini and Spa Stone Massage with Tony Riccio and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She has a private practice working out of her home and works at K.M. Stylin' in Belfast, Maine.

Biofreeze Pain Relieving product: Biofreeze is now the number one topical pain reliever of choice for chiropractors, podiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists and athletic trainers. In addition to its contents of natural menthols, Arnica, Calendula, Chamomile, Echinacea, Juniper Berry, and White Tea, it contains a product called Ilex which is a natural anti inflammatory extract from a holly berry. It gives temporary relief to your pain from arthritis, muscle strains and sprains and soreness.
Essential oils can be added to your treatment on request. Our base products are unscented.
